Transforming a Government-to-Citizen Web Site Through Content Management
Overview
The National Park Service (NPS) Web site – NPS.gov – is one of the federal government’s most popular online destinations.
However, until recently, the site suffered from an inconsistent look and an unorganized process for publishing online content. NPS sought a content management application that would enable various parks to produce their own content within a consistent framework that would support rich media capabilities.
Thanks to technology partner InfoReliance, today’s NPS.gov is an attractive, comprehensive gateway to the NPS’s 388 national park sites and program offices. In addition to facilitating a quantum leap in the Web site’s look, feel and functionality, the agency’s new content management system has enabled hundreds of content managers to produce sophisticated Web pages without having to acquire new technical skills.
